Fleur is walking very carefully around the kitchen in a pair of fuzzy slippers "burrowed" lovingly from the husband. She is trying to finish putting together dinner for her husband that was stolen by goblins.

"I am making dinner for my 'usband," she giggles and tries to make an artistic order of the salad. Everything else is happily waiting on the table.

Since the take-out restaurant already plated that.

He likes their flat. He likes it a lot: the way the late afternoon sun glows golden on the walls, and the way he can hear Fleur humming as he nears the door. He likes their room and the way the place is shaping up. As unobtrusively as possible he ends the charms on the door, pretending to fumble with the Muggle lock-and-key, and opens it up.

"Hullo, love." Bill sets down his travel satchel so his arms are free because, after all, the first thing that needs to happen is that his wife needs a kiss in greeting.

Fuzzy slippers or not.

Bill simply laughs and spins her round and round in his arms.

During his months in captivity, he imagined a safe place for himself: a flat of his own, a woman he loved, somewhere to go when his work day was done. A place to be pampered rather than tormented and he realises now that this -- a home with Fleur -- is so much more perfect than what he imagined during those long months. It's better because it's real, and it's better because it's her, and it's better because it's a dream come true.

"My day was... full of negotiation. Goblins are notoriously good at getting what they want, but I think they'll cave in to my outrageous demands." He laughs again, sets her down, and kisses her rather thoroughly. "They'll let you come to Egypt with me."

"It looks like a million Galleons, my love." He watches her appreciatively as she moves off into the kitchen, half-dressed as always. He's never been one to demand that she cook for him or play some traditional female role, but neither has he been to complain when she does.

There's something satisfying on a primal level to come home and have dinner waiting. He takes it as a gift, and always will, no matter who prepares the food.

Really, she should be in a proper home with a house-elf. Sadly, that's out of the question. But maybe some day.

"Fleur. I love you." His voice is just loud enough to carry into the kitchen.

"Three if you count the bar." He smiles both at her foot and at the food and fills up plates for both of them. "This looks lovely and yes, part-time here and part-time in Egypt. Less time in Egypt to start with, but if it goes well, they'll increase it again. I suppose they need to have it stacked in their favour but really, I'm one of their better curse-breakers. It won't be long until we can write our own ticket to Egypt whenever we want. I can get us a flat there, or we can take a room in an inn, or... we'll make it work. And you'll be the toast of Luxor."

He beams at her, cutting a slice of lamb. It's delicious, savoury and warm, and it goes perfectly with the wine. Or the wine goes perfectly with the lamb, and all of it -- every bit of it -- goes perfectly with Fleur.

"Tell me about your day, my love. You know what Gringott's is like. Goblins everywhere."

He smiles widely: he likes it when she moves too. "So long as you're having fun with it, my love, I'm all for it. I might have to massage your thighs later, though, to make up for all that crouching in bad heels."

That's not a bad concept. In fact, he rather likes it.

"After half a day's negotiations with the goblins, I was ready to walk out on them. I think they sensed it and that's when they agreed it would be best all round if they shared me with London and Luxor." He stabs at a piece of tomato. "They've found a hidden chamber at St. Paul's Cathedral that wants curse-breaking. It's rather exciting, and they're going to give it to me. I start working on it tomorrow. It's the first new find in the heart of London in ages, and they've no idea what it might hold."

Bill shrugs, helping himself to more lamb because it's juicy and succulent and he so appreciates her having it there for him when he's just come in from work. For years, he's been a bachelor and only taking care of himself. Having someone else to do it is so very lovely.

"I don't know. Something in the catacombs; they've just found an entry to an ancient, ancient tomb there and it's definitely got its origins in wizardry. They either gave me the job because I'm good or because I was there at the right time. At any rate, it should be quite exciting."

That makes Bill smile. "And what did you find?"

He remembers the brochures from Gringott's very well: that's what attracted him to the concept of curse-breaking as a career at first. It was so glamourous and so different and, conveniently, so very far away. He loves his family now and loved them then, but it was time for a change.

And what a change. A new job, a new country, a new... everything.

Bill nods sagely. "Yes, tight trousers were a prerequisite for taking the job. We had to model them squatting in impossibly high heels for three hours."

He winks at her.

"Have I told you lately how much I simply love you, Fleur?"

"Blue, to offset my eyes."

Leaning forward, he grabs her hand in his and kisses her, directly over their plates of food.

"I think married life suits me. I think it suits you."

He kisses her again. Lamb is just as good served cold.

He gives her a mock frown. "Yes, how dull. Bill, Bill, Bill. I can see how a steady diet of that would be a bit offputting. Fortunately, we've got bread and cheese, lamb, and salad for a change of pace."

Sadly, he backs off and goes back to eating, looking as dejected as he can without laughing.

"Now I've lost my appetite."

How sad.

He looks up.

"Did you say radish me?" Poking through the salad, he shakes his head. "I don't see any radishes in here, Fleur."

Bill can barely keep from laughing now. "Perhaps you'd best come over here and take a look yourself. Let me know if I've missed seeing anything."

Well. Now there's no choice at all: he has to hold her and let his hands wander over her and kiss that spot on the back of her neck that gives her chills.

And so he does.

"That bloody oven ghoul. I think my next curse-breaking task should be to rid our kitchen of him."

He pauses, sneaking back in for another kiss.

"In a little while."

"But you're not."

Hard to argue with that type of logic.

Oh, there's a cure for that: he holds her closer and traps his fingers between them.

And kisses her very, very soundly.

And picks her up and carries her off.

Food can wait, but love can't.

(It just can't.)
